  American Home Shield has an issue finding qualified contractors. For each service request I was presented with rude contractors who were too busy to take the time to diagnose the issue. In the case of my refrigerator, I had two contractors with a downtime of 8 weeks for an ice maker. I was promised a refund of my service fee only to have the amount "clawed back" by their payment system at the end of the calendar year. I contacted Finance about the December charges and they told me their "I.T. system had been recently upgraded and processed over 13,000 pending service fees." Needless to say, I have not renewed by contract.

  American Home Shield takes your money but it is not there when you need them. Some of their contractors can be extremely disrespectful of your time, such as setting up a service window time, than showing up 2 hours later. Then, good luck trying to make a complaint to American Home Shield. Waiting time on the telefone (other than buying the insurance, which is pretty quick) is around 30 to 40 minutes.
